Los Angeles had just taken a lead with to go when Jim Everett threw a yard touchdown pass to Flipper Anderson. This time, he frantically marched Buffalo downfield and hit Andre Reed with a game-winning 8-yard TD pass with 26 seconds left. Reich completed 10 of 11 passes for yards in the fourth quarter. Also, the Bills rushed for yards, including by Thomas, which enabled them to possess the ball for more than 35 minutes. On this night, Thomas became just the 21st back in NFL history to surpass 1, yards rushing in three straight years, and it also moved him into second place on the Bills all-time rushing list ahead of Joe Cribbs, and behind Simpson.

After a blazing start to the season, the two-time defending AFC champion Bills dropped two in a row to the Dolphins and Raiders by a combined and were reeling as they headed to the Meadowlands to face the Jets. And then, they fell behind the Jets when Brad Baxter scored with left. But starting from his own 25, Kelly drove the Bills to victory, overcoming a sack on the first play of the series thanks to a yard pass to Don Beebe, and then a yarder to Beebe to convert a third-and Finally, Thomas broke an yard run, then caught the winning yard pass over the middle to give the Bills their 10th straight win over New York.

Steve Christie had an outstanding career with Buffalo, but before he kicked the game-winning yard field goal with five seconds to go, this had been a night to forget because earlier in the fourth quarter, he had missed a yard field goal as well as an extra point. The Bills began their winning drive at their Kelly hit Russell Copeland for a yard gain, and Thomas broke an yard run which helped position Christie for the winner.

Brooks Robinson was the greatest fielding third baseman in baseball, but I only saw him play once and he made three errors. And now, we get to the horror shows on Monday night. Instead, the Cowboys recovered an onside kick at the Bills 47, Romo completed two passes to the 35, and Nick Folk kicked a yard field goal as time expired to deliver one of the most gut-wrenching losses the Bills have ever endured. That was only the first of three Monday night heartbreaks in consecutive years.

The next one came the following season, also in Orchard Park. Fred Jackson returned the ensuing kickoff to the 44, Edwards hit Robert Royal for 22 yards on first down, and after getting the ball to the Browns 29, Dick Jauron sent Rian Lindell in to kick a winning yard field goal, only to see it go wide right — sound familiar?

Finally, the troika of despair ended with this disaster as the Bills blew an point lead late in the fourth quarter, preventing them from winning for the first time at 8-year-old Gillette Stadium. Right after the two-point conversion failed, the Patriots kicked off with to play, and Leodis McKelvin fumbled at the Bills Box has full color photo of Joe Namath on 2 of the panels.
